Olivers Estate Agent

Dublin based Olivers Estate Agent were referred to me from their previous web designer.
They had a long run of un-successful attempts to have a web platform built, that fully met with their needs.

Having assessed their specific requirements, I set about creating a site that would fulfil their needs, and allow easy adding of content.

Olivers Estate Agents, Dublin

Since the existing Olivers Estate Agent site was built on WordPress, I was able to export the majority of the existing content in to a development site.
This gave me a good starting point to build on their content for the site.

Once the wire-frame layouts and site needs where agreed, I set about building the theme for the new site. With custom post types for the property listings, together with custom fields. Custom Post types where also added to allow easy adding and editing of their agents.
Also added to the site was a CPT (Custom Post Type) to allow their clients to submit testimonials, this was combined with a custom testimonial submission form.

The theme we created for the WordPress site is responsive, meaning that it will ‘morph’ it’s layout to suit all screen sizes and shapes. So it can be easily viewed and read on everything from smart-phones and tablets, to laptops and desktops.

As with all my sites, care was taken to ensure fast page load times, and that the site was search engine friendly. Only the bare minimum plugins and scripts are used to ensure there is no unnecessary ‘code bloat’ (un-required code).

Olivers.ie was built on an Apple Mac using:

  • Underscores base theme
  • Foundation Framework
  • Sublime Text, Build 3126
  • CodeKit, version 3.0.5
  • Adobe Photoshop for image preparation & optimisation
  • Adobe Illustrator for vector graphic creation
  • Chrome DevTools for debugging & testing
  • Firefox Developer Edition, Safari, Opera & Internet Explorer (v10) for testing on desktops
  • Safari & Chrome for iPad & iPhone testing
  • Google Chrome on Android for testing
